Warming Hearts with Seasonal Crafts

When you ask Laurie Corbett what Our Clubhouse means to her, she will tell you that volunteering for this organization gives her a sense of fulfillment and connection.
Our Clubhouse is a local nonprofit that offers free social, emotional, and wellness support to those touched by cancer. There are two locations for Our Clubhouse. The main office is located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. The satellite office, Our Clubhouse Westmoreland, is located in Greensburg, PA. Laurie has been volunteering for Our Clubhouse Westmoreland since its opening in August of 2015.

As the owner of Eclectique in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Laurie is an expert in handcrafting beautiful products and pieces of art that are often upcycled from a wide range of repurposed materials. At her store, you will find Laurie’s own hand-crafted items as well as a unique inventory of antiques, vintage, local artisan craft work of decor, furniture, doll clothing, chocolates, body lotions, soaps, and more.  Laurie also hosts adult and children’s craft classes monthly at her art studio located in the back of her store.

Laurie shares her upcycling crafts and talents with the members of Our Clubhouse Westmoreland by offering a free seasonal craft every month. The clubhouse members love Laurie’s warm and friendly presence, as well as the clever and creative challenges she brings to the craft table. As a result, Laurie’s craft table is full every month. Laurie finds deep meaning in giving Our Clubhouse members an activity they can enjoy together, as many of them have been through very difficult times.

In January of 2020, Laurie led a craft workshop on how to make a snowman tea light craft out of a wine glass. As you can see from the pictures, Laurie is truly warming the hearts of those touched by cancer with her creative winter crafts.
