Job Description: WBN Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator

Job Summary:

The WBN Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator will coordinate the overall WBN corporate marketing and outreach to further the growth of the organization and increase communication to current members. Collaboration with the Chapter Outreach Coordinators, the Member Services Coordinator, the Executive Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee is essential. This position will also be responsible for assisting in securing sponsorships from identified companies that are brought to the organization’s attention as interested sponsors and for managing the fulfillment of their benefits as a sponsor.

This is an independent contractor position and will report to the board president.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Write and curate posts on the WBN Facebook page and create Facebook events as needed; monitor posts and invite new “likes” to page; monitor and reply to comments.

  • Coordinate Chapter Facebook pages and work with Chapter Outreach Coordinators regarding content.
  • Assist with identifying and developing strategic marketing alliances such as local nonprofits, chambers, networking groups, etc.
  • Develop content and design ads for digital and print media as approved by the Board.
  • Regular communication with chapter leadership to increase the awareness of sponsorship opportunities and to encourage engagement in providing leads to the Executive Committee for potential sponsors.
  • Follow up with leads to secure appointments with potential sponsors and relaying that information to the executive committee.
  • Track the timeline of sponsors, ensuring sponsorship benefits are fulfilled and assisting with retention through regular communication.
  • Act as a host/liaison at major WBN annual events where sponsors may be present.
  • Notifying Executive Committee when a sponsor is within 90 days of its expiration so efforts can be made for retention/renewal of sponsorship

The ideal candidate for this position will be:

  • Familiar with WBN, its history and its membership base

Compensation:

$400 per month to start, plus 10% commission of all sponsorship sales, whether generated directly by the SSC or via another source. Estimated workload is approximately 20 to 25 hours per month with 80% of the hours being spent on the marketing position and 20% of the hours being spent on the sponsorship coordination role.

The parameters for this position will adjust based on WBN needs, marketing technology and overall results.
