I’ve Never Used a Travel Advisor …. Tips On What to Look for in a Travel Advisor and How to Work with One

Are you looking to work with a Travel Advisor to help you plan your next vacation, but not sure where to start? Here are a few suggestions on how to successfully work with a Travel Advisor:

  • Research: Before you pick up the phone and call someone, do some research.
    • Find a reputable travel agency. Start by asking your family and friends for recommendations.
    • Google Travel Agencies near you and check for quality good reviews, also take a look at their social media, this will give you a look inside what they offer.
    • Check to see if the travel advisor is able to fill your vacation needs. Not all agencies offer every destination and/or are experienced in the destination you may want for your vacation. Knowledge and experience matter.
    • We also recommend before contacting a travel advisor, do some research about your destination, budget, preferred travel dates, and anything you’d like to include in your vacation. This will help the advisor understand your needs and goals for your vacation.
  • Schedule an initial consultation: Schedule a consultation either via, phone, zoom or in person. Having a good connection with your travel advisor is important. This is the perfect time to discuss your preferences, budget, and any specific requirements you have for your vacation. Be clear about what you’re looking for and be sure to ask questions, such as:
    • How long have they been a travel advisor?
    • Ask about the services they provide.
    • Ask if they have been to the destination.
  • Review quotes carefully: Once your advisor has a good understanding of your vacation goals, they will send over a quote within 48 hours of your initial consultation. If you have any additional question about the destination, the quote, or are unclear about something be sure to ask.
Booking: Once you decided on your dream vacation, your travel advisor will handle what was discussed and agreed upon. A reputable travel advisor will send over important documents and information about your vacation, that include but not limited to:

    • Terms & Conditions
    • Credit Authorizations
    • Travel Insurance Declaration and a few more items based on your destination.
    • Personal Information Validation
  • Communication: Communication is key with your travel advisor. If you have any concerns or changes to your plans, don’t hesitate to reach out to them for assistance. You should allow up to 48 hours for them to get back to you.
  • Confirm final details: As your vacation approaches, your advisor will provide all the necessary details for your vacation, including, trip documents, itineraries, and insider tips and tricks. Your advisor will also check in on you once you arrive
  • Provide feedback: After your vacation, be sure to provide feedback to your advisor about your experience. Let them know what you liked about the destination and if there were any areas for improvement for the advisor. This will help them better serve you and future travelers! And of course, don’t forget to refer all your friends and family!

By following these guidelines and maintaining open communication with your Travel Advisor, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free travel planning experience!
