Since forming in the mid 1990s the Laurel Highlands Chapter has always been involved with community, business and WBN Corporate. We are 37 members strong and growing. Several of our members have served on the Board of Directors and in committees to further the WBN cause. Many have been involved with community projects as well as helping each other build their businesses. Friendship and support in business is top priority among the members.
As an active part of WBN we meet the second and forth Thursday of each month from 8:30am to 10:00 am at Craftique Café. We have a light breakfast and networking 10 minutes before the meeting begins. At every meeting each member and guest gets their 30 seconds of fame to market their business and suggest who would be a good referral for them. Every member has an opportunity to speak for 10 minutes with two speaking at each meeting. Several times a year we have an open discussion for topics of interest to members. We love to encourage prospective members to join us and discover the benefits of networking through WBN.
The Laurel Highlands Chapter has been active with various charity events. Each July we support the ParentWise Ice Cream Blast. For the past year we have collected gentle used clothes, shoes, accessories and household items, donating them to Alabaster’s Attic Thrift Shop, a nonprofit shop supporting a Christian Theater Troupe. Angela’s Angels has been a top priority for the past three years for Prom Season and even for the Holiday Formals. We collect formal wear and accessories to loan to young ladies who might not be able to afford the attire to attend the Prom. We believe every girl deserves to feel like a princess for the evening and want them to look the part. We provide gowns and alterations, shoes, bags and jewelry to every girl who comes to us.
In addition to our regular meetings, each year we have our Annual Spa and Pool Party for some well deserved rest and relaxation. We use this time to get to know each other just a little better and to invite friends to join us.
