2008 Woman of the Year
Melissa McGavick, of Cranberry Township, and member of the Women’s Business Network (WBN) Cranberry Chapter was the recipient of the Women’s Business Network’s 2008 Woman of the Year Award. This honor is awarded to one member annually and recognizes the individual who has best demonstrated excellence and leadership in her business or profession and in her service to the community and WBN.
Melissa is the President of McGavick Interactive Training; a company that works with business and individuals to increase revenue by teaching sales techniques, business etiquette and soft skills (www.mcgavick.net). Melissa has served as President of Cranberry Area Toastmasters, Chairperson for the Cranberry Women’s Business Network, Women Entrepreneurs in Business and corporate Sponsorship Chairperson for the annual Women Think P.I.N.K. charity event. Currently she is serves on the Board of Directors of WBN, is Co-Director of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Downtown Women’s Club, and a member of the Cranberry Area Chamber of Commerce. She holds a degree in Communications, Media Studies from Penn State.
The Woman of the Year Award was presented at the WBN Annual Dinner held on May 15th at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle, PA. The Women’s Business Network has approximately 350 members from Southwestern Pennsylvania and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build an effective organization of women business owners and professionals committed to integrity of performance and service as well as the creative exchange of business.
