2011 Woman of the Year
Rebecca Polachek Wanovich, of Mt. Lebanon, was the recipient of the Women’s Business Network’s (WBN) 2011 Woman of the Year Award. This honor is awarded to one member annually and recognizes the individual who has best demonstrated excellence and leadership in her business or profession and in her service to the community and WBN.
Rebecca is one of four owners of Pierson & Scott/Polachek Company, an agency that handles general personal and business insurance. Rebecca specializes in insuring Rental and Rehab properties and in addition to sales and the servicing of her accounts, her management role in the agency is as Director of Marketing.
Rebecca is currently on the Board of Directors for WBN serving as the Vice-President and is also a long-standing member of their South Hills Chapter. She volunteers for the Mt. Lebanon Partnership Community Development Corp, is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Real Estate Investors Association, the Family Tyes fly fishing club, and attends Southminster Presbyterian Church where she serves on their Gas & Oil Task Force. She has been married to her husband Steve since 1995 and they have one son. In the summer she enjoys vegetable gardening at the Mt. Lebanon Community Garden Plots and in the winter she skis nearly every weekend with Hidden Valley Race Club and Three Rivers Adaptive Sports.
This year’s Woman of the year award was presented at Lingrow Farms in Leechburg on May 5, 2011. Women’s Business Network has over 400 members from Southwestern Pennsylvania and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build an effective organization of women business owners and professionals committed to the integrity of performance and service, as well as, the creative exchange of business.
